Care with Taylor Remer
Taylor Remer, DNP, APRN, FNP-C provides family practice care with a particular focus on conditions that are frequently missed, dismissed, or told they are nothing.
Taylor Remer is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner holding a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree. She sees patients across the lifespan and brings a specific clinical interest to a group of conditions that share an unfortunate pattern: real, disruptive symptoms, normal-looking test results, and a long history of being told nothing is wrong.
Patients with these conditions often arrive having seen a considerable number of providers already. The first useful thing that happens in that appointment is usually being believed.
Areas Of Focus
Autism
Care here centers on the whole person rather than the diagnosis, and on the medical needs that frequently accompany autism and go unaddressed: gastrointestinal problems, sleep disruption, feeding and nutritional concerns, sensory considerations that make ordinary appointments difficult, and co-occurring conditions.
Practical accommodations matter and are available. Longer appointments, reduced sensory load, and predictable routines make the difference between a visit that works and one that does not. Care is offered for autistic patients of any age, including adults, who are frequently underserved.
POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome)
POTS is a form of dysautonomia in which the autonomic nervous system fails to regulate properly on standing. Heart rate climbs sharply, and patients experience lightheadedness, fatigue, palpitations, brain fog, nausea, and in some cases fainting.
It is diagnosable, and it is frequently missed or attributed to anxiety. Management is multi-layered and generally involves fluid and sodium strategy, compression, a graded and carefully paced approach to movement, sleep and trigger management, and medication where it is warranted. Evaluation for the conditions that commonly travel with POTS forms part of the workup.
Mast Cell Disorders
In mast cell activation disorders, mast cells release their inflammatory mediators inappropriately, producing symptoms across several body systems at once: flushing, hives, abdominal pain, diarrhea, headache, brain fog, and reactions to foods, medications, scents, temperature, or exertion that appear to make no consistent sense.
Because symptoms cross so many specialties, these patients are often passed between them without anyone assembling the whole picture. Care involves identifying and reducing triggers, a structured approach to mediator blockade, attention to diet, and coordination with other specialists where needed.
Ketamine Therapy
Ketamine is used in supervised clinical settings for treatment-resistant depression and for certain chronic pain conditions, and it works through a different mechanism than conventional antidepressants. For some patients who have not responded to standard treatment, it is a meaningful option.
It is not right for everyone, and it is not a standalone answer. Treatment begins with a thorough evaluation, including psychiatric and cardiovascular history, and continues within an ongoing plan rather than as an isolated intervention. Administration is monitored throughout.
What To Expect
Expect a long first appointment and a detailed history, including the parts you have told other providers already. Bring prior records, testing, and a complete medication and supplement list. If you have kept a symptom diary, bring that too, as it is often the single most useful document in the room.
These conditions are managed rather than cured, and progress is usually measured over months. The goal is steady, durable improvement in how your daily life actually functions.
Working Alongside Dr. Dalton
Taylor and Dr. Dalton practice together and refer between one another as a patient’s needs indicate. A patient seeing Taylor for dysautonomia may also benefit from osteopathic manipulative treatment. A patient of Dr. Dalton’s whose picture points toward mast cell involvement is in the right building already.
